Looking for something to do this weekend? We know just the thing. Grab a date, friend, or family member and head to the movies! With the world slowly opening back up post-pandemic, most movie theaters in L.A. are up and running again, and ready to host you for a great movie – and even better snacks. If you’re a vegan eater like us, you may be thinking, “snacks? Movie theater snacks are never vegan-friendly!” Well, we’re here to debunk that myth! There are actually quite a few movie theaters in Los Angeles that offer vegan snack options (and even some full vegan meals). Yep, you heard that right! Keep on reading to find out where you can plan a fully vegan movie theater outing.

Need a vegan snack now? We don’t blame you! Head to your local grocery store or shop online for The Pizza Plant. Our pizzas are Organic, scratch-made, delicious, and of course, 100% vegan. Simply pop our pre-made pizzas in the oven – and just like that, you have a fully vegan, healthy meal ready to sneak into those movie theaters that don’t offer vegan options (you didn’t hear it from us!)

Here are some L.A. movie theaters that offer fully vegan options:

  1. AMC, Cinemark, Regal

Most of your classic movie theaters will offer some vegan options, such as popcorn without seasoning and classic vegan candies such as Swedish Fish, Twizzlers, Sour Patch Kids, Dots, Skittles, Airheads, and more. For a full list of vegan candies, click here. Just always be sure to check with staff that the savory snacks you’re ordering are vegan, as they can vary from theater to theater.

  1. Laemmle’s Theaters (Glendale, North Hollywood, and Santa Monica locations)

Ready to fill up on more than just classic movie theater snacks? You’ll want to head to one of these Laemmle’s Theater locations, where they serve Fry’s Rice Protein and Chia Nuggets, vegan hot dogs, vegan cookies, and more. Go for the movie, stay for the delicious vegan food options!

  1. IMax Theater Universal Citywalk (Universal City)

This theater has a big snack menu in general – which means there are more vegan options for us plantbased eaters! Grab their fries, chips and salsa, popcorn, cinnamon sugar or salted pretzel bites, smoothies, and more for a fully vegan movie night experience.

  1. Landmark Theaters (Westwood)

This theater offers the same traditional vegan movie snacks like popcorn and vegan candies. But beyond that, they also serve more unique snacks like wasabi peas, mixed nuts, and – wait for it – Beyond Meat bratwurst! Plus, if you have a sweet tooth beyond your basic candy, you can grab a tasty vegan cookie, Sweet & Sara rice crispy treat, or Barnana chewy banana bites. Delicious, if you ask us!

  1. The Montalbán Theater (Hollywood)Not only does this theater offer vegan food, but you’ll actually want to show up hungry to enjoy all of their delicious options! Grab a full-size or slider version of their Impossible Burger (be sure to ask for no cheese), or if you’re not in the mood for a full meal, go for the tater tots, popcorn, or fries. Rumor also has it that they’re adding a vegan ice cream to their menu soon. We can’t wait!
  1. Ipic Theaters (Pasadena and Westwood)

There’s more vegan burgers where that came from. Head to these theaters to catch a film and their Beyond Burger (without cheese or special sauce). For some delicious sides, grab their veggie kabobs, truffle fries (without parmesan), or sweet potato fries. Be aware that their popcorn is not vegan because it’s made with butter.

  1. Arena Cinelounge (Hollywood)

Fun fact: this independent theater was the first to re-open after the pandemic shutdown, and when they did, they launched their own line of vegan popcorn. It comes in individual bags to avoid contact, and is offered in movie-inspired flavors like Once Upon A Time in Popcorn, Natural Corn Killers, APOPalypse Now, and Popcorn of The Living Dead (creative, right?)

Ready for your movie night? We sure are! Be sure to share this post with a friend that you want to take with you on your vegan movie outing. And don’t forget to shop online or head to your local grocery store for The Pizza Plant! If movie theaters aren’t your thing, an at-home vegan pizza and movie night is definitely calling your name.
